The Simple booking page, with its dog-walking chat open on a phone

Simple booking

Simple booking needed the product to be the illustration: a phone mid-conversation, drawn as markup rather than shipped as a picture. The chat's arrival was the hard part, staggered bubble by bubble in CSS alone.

Project Background

Simple booking is a dog-walking service whose pitch is that arranging a walk should feel like texting a friend. They came with one screen: a phone mid-conversation, the walker's photos of the dog, and two walk lengths with prices, over a magenta and violet gradient. Only the four photographs ship as images, so the phone and every bubble in it are markup. Their placeholder grey failed contrast on the white pill and was darkened to clear it. Drawn at 375 and 1440, scoped from 320 up, with a straight 100 in each of the four Lighthouse audits.
